Andhjan Kalyan Trust is a non-profiting and non governmental organization working for the all round development and welfare of the disabled since 1992. This organization though works in the semi developed area of Saurashtra region of Gujarat State of India. It functions nationally and internationally when and where any necessity arises in the cause of the disabled. Initially though Andhjan Kalyan Trust was setup for the welfare of the blind, it felt a great need to undertake educational and rehabilitation programmes for the welfare of the other categories of disabled and hence its started functioning for all the categories of the disabled including Visually Impaired, Hearing Impaired, Mentally Retarded, Orthopaedically Handicapped as well as Multi Handicapped and Cerebral Palsy-Stricken people. To materialize our concerns for all these people, the organization has been running several projects including: 1. Computer Education Centre for the Visually Impaired. Achievements: 20 Blind students 2. Talking Book Production Center for the Visually Impaired Achievements: 25 titles 3. Computerized Braille Production Center Achievements: 5000 pages 4. Deaf-blind’s Education and Training Project. Achievements: 23 Deafblinds persons 5. Community Based Rehabilitation for the Disabled. Achievements: Identified 2898 disabled persons 6. Residential Care Centre for the welfare of persons with Autism, Cerebral palsy, Mentally Retardation and Multiple Disabilities at Dhoraji. Achievements: 31 beneficiaries 7. Physiotherapy Centre. Achievements: 213 patients 8. Sports and Cultural Activities for the Disabled. Achievements: Organized 5 state level sports meet 9. Free distribution of Aids and Appliances to the Disabled. Achievements: Tricycle-08, Wheelchair-21, Crutches-47, Tape Recorder with 25 cassettes-17, Hearing Aid-11, Braille Typewriter-02, Walking sticks-200, Braille kits-191, M.R. kits-40 10. Guidance and Counseling to the Disabled and their Parents. Achievements: 500 11. Employment and Placement Services. Achievements: Self employment-06, Government job-08 12. Advocacy for the Disabled.
