What Mitr is

Mitr is a directory and collaboration network for India's social sector. Directory information is compiled from public sources and community contributions; trust badges and scores are indicators computed from platform activity, not a legal certification, audit or endorsement of any organisation. Verify independently before donating to, volunteering with, or partnering with any organisation.

Your account

Acceptable use & Intermediary Compliance

In accordance with Rule 3(1)(b) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, users shall not host, display, upload, modify, publish, transmit, store, update or share any information that:

Your content & moderation

You retain ownership of content you post. By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, display, and distribute it on the platform. As an intermediary, we reserve the right to moderate, restrict, or take down content, or suspend accounts that violate these terms or applicable Indian laws.

Directory listings & Donation disclaimer

Organisation listings and trust badges are compiled from public government databases (such as NGO Darpan) and community contributions for public benefit on an as-is basis. Maitri Scores and verification badges are indicators of platform completeness, not a financial endorsement, legal audit, or government certification.

Mitr does not collect, hold, or process donation funds directly. Users must conduct independent due diligence before donating, volunteering with, or entering into financial or legal contracts with any organisation listed on the platform.

Disclaimers, liability & Indemnity

The platform is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mitr, its founders, and operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or for the actions, omissions, or misrepresentations of any organisation or user listed on the platform.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Mitr from any third-party claims, liabilities, or legal expenses arising from your violation of these terms, unauthorized organisation claims, or content you publish.

Changes and termination

We may update these terms and will post the revised version here. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms. You may stop using the service and request account deletion at any time.
