About

Media advocacy The Indian Media Centre for Journalists, a non-profit, professional organisation, promotes quality journalism worldwide in the belief that independent, vigorous media are crucial in improving the human condition. Over the past six years, IMCFJ has worked directly with more than 2000 journalists from all over India, especially from the seven hindi speaking states. Our programmes focus on improving reportage in the areas of environment, health and education. We do this through training, training trainers who transmit best practices, and through focus group discussion of journalists to exchange ideas. We focus on improving writing styles, improving research skills and reporting for stories (especially science and health), media ethics, and advocating for social change through special news features and stories. We believe that it is the role of journalists to provide information in an accurate, comprehensive, timely and comprehensible manner. To promote reportage from the grassroots about issues of concerns like development, health and environment issues. To protect the rights of journalist and guarantee their rights towards free speech and of the press; and to encourage a climate in which journalism can be practiced freely
