A mentally retarded child needs special care, affection and an atmosphere, which helps him/her to develop self-confidence, independent attitude and feeling of belongings. The parents association of mentally handicapped of Jamshedpur was established with an objective to create awareness among the parents as the parents through their observation play a pivotal role in early detection of the disability. We believe that mental retardation is not a disease it is condition or state which cannot be cured by medicines. The association since its inception continuously strives through its concerted and committed efforts, to educate, rehabilitate and train to transform the life of the child labeled as mentally retarded and give them proper respect as human being for leading a productive and independent life and make them self-reliant
